Car Trim Levels That Need to Happen: Part 4

I am aware it has been a while since I have done one of these. I figured it’s about time to do another one, reenter Chevy.

Chevrolet Sonic ZR3

There is an obvious hole in Chevy’s lineup for a hot-hatch. Last time, we covered the Cruze SS but perhaps a Fiesta ST (I hear it will survive Ford’s purge) and 500 Abarth competitor. Where would the ZR3 get its engine? From its big brother, the Cruze. See, the Cruze has a turbocharged 1.4L engine with 153 horsepower, an extra 15. Add some weight reduction and you have a hot hatch in a tiny package.

Chevrolet Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban SS and ZR4

Its about time that we get the SS trim for the full-size pickup back and add the SUV. Instead of the extremely powerful Z06 supercharged version, take the Stingray’s 450-something hp engine, lower the thing, and give it bigger wheels and brakes. As for the ZR4, this is where the Z06 version could come in

Chevrolet Express XL

The formula is simple, add another row of seats and there you go, a smaller bus.

Chrysler Atlantica

Ok, ok, this isn’t a “trim level” but it still wouldn’t take much to do. Take the Jeep pickup platform, make a different body, and there- a Chrysler pickup!

Chrysler 300 Wagon

It’s well known that Americans have a strange fascination with station wagons. If Chrysler extended both the wheelbase and the roof line to the end of the car, they would sell like hotcakes. Saving Chrysler from certain oblivion.
